Slurry handling is a key process in the success and profitability of any livestock farm. To achieve the best levels of hygiene, animal health and welfare, it is essential that the waste is removed as quickly as possible to a suitable storage or disposal facility. Negus Chase offers a range of equipment and will advise on the best options for the individual situation to maximise the efficiency with which this happens whilst considering the capital and running costs.
Slurry scrapers
Whether you have cows, cattle, sheep, pigs or poultry, you have a solid floor or slats, the slurry is liquid, solid or laden with sand, we can advise on conventional or robotic scrapers that will work best for your system.
Conventional scrapers may be chain, cable or hydraulically operated, and can be run as frequently as is needed.
Robotic slurry systems have the advantage that they can negotiate corners and work in small spaces. They can therefore be used to clean cross-passages and narrow alleys that cannot generally be accessed by conventional systems. Slurry robots operate in a clear floor-space so there are no chains, cables, corner blocks or other obstacles that could obstruct the movement of livestock or machinery in the area.

Slurry pumps and agitators
Slurry pumps may be required at various stages during the slurry disposal procedure. For example, a pump may be needed to transfer fresh slurry from a reception pit to a slurry store. A pump will then be needed to empty the slurry store, either into a spreader or via a slurry irrigation system. Agitators are needed in slurry stores to prevent the solids from settling and forming a crust. They also homogenise the manure to provide a more uniform consistency and nutrient analysis before disposal of the slurry to land. We can advise on the most effective and efficient slurry pumps and agitators to work for the purpose, taking into account, for example, the consistency of the slurry, whether it contains sand, the volumes involved, the size of the storage and distances involved.

Slurry Separators
Using a slurry separator removes the solids leaving a liquid fertiliser that can be more easily dispersed by spraying on the fields using an umbilical system. The fibrous solids can be composted for use on or off the farm.
